eHealth

We are currently developing HD-eHelp, an eHealth platform that aims at giving those of us affected by Huntington’s Disease (HD) access to the best health care available – no matter where one lives in Europe.

WHO CAN USE THE PLATFORM?

At the moment, only patients and families connected to the medical centres participating in the project can access the platform.

WHAT ARE THE FUTURE AIMS?

In the future we aim at broadening the access of the eHelp platform to include people and medical centres throughout Europe. We also want to include health services for multiple rare diseases.

WHAT IS eHealth?

eHealth is a way for people to receive medical treatment and guidance through digital platforms. By using a computer, people affected by rare diseases can for instance make video calls to health care providers and get help online.

Example

The care home Topaz Overduin in the Netherlands is specialised in Huntington’s disease and has provided online alternatives for those living at home through a platform called iQare. We in HealthE-RND are building upon the experiences with iQare when we are developing our platform.
